- Cabrillo National Monument — Tidepools, coastal trails, the Old Point Loma Lighthouse and wide views of San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Official site Map
- USS Midway Museum — Walk the decks of a carrier that was commissioned in 1945, right on the waterfront at Burnham Navy Pier. Official site Map
- Balboa Park — A 1,200-acre park of gardens and museums in the middle of the city. You can walk the grounds for free, and each museum sets its own admission. Official site Map
- Living Coast Discovery Center — A nature and wildlife center at 1000 Gunpowder Point Dr. in Chula Vista, on San Diego Bay, with Turtle Lagoon, shark and ray exhibits, Raptor Row and trails through the refuge. Official site Map
- Old Town San Diego State Historic Park — A walkable historic park of restored buildings and museums, with living-history programs about Rancho-period California. Official site Map
- Coronado Beach and the Hotel del Coronado — Morning walks and sunset strolls on a wide beach in front of the Victorian Hotel del Coronado, a National Historic Landmark since 1977. Map
